Similar to the Chrome browser or Internet Explorer, Firefox has also an inbuilt password manager that allows us to save and manage the login information regarding various websites. In this guide, you will see how to find and manage save passwords in firefox browser.
Find & Manage Saved Passwords in Firefox
In a couple of easy steps, you can quickly find and manage the passwords that Firefox has saved for you:
- Open the Firefox browser
- Open menu
- Click on the Options button
- Select Privacy & Security
- Go to the Logins & Passwords section
- Make the necessary changes.
To begin, open the Firefox browser and navigate to the top-right corner of the page. Open menu and from the following menu list, click on the Options button.
From the left panel, select Privacy & Security and then scroll the page to the Logins & Passwords section. Here you can mark the checkbox as per your requirements like, ask to save the logins and passwords for every single website. On marking the next checkbox, the browser will auto-fill the logins and passwords for that site in which logins and passwords are already saved.

Find the Saved Passwords in Firefox
Open the privacy and security tab and navigate to the Logins and passwords section as it is explained earlier. On clicking on the Saved Logins button, it opens a new page where all your accounts are saved with its username and passwords.
In the above snapshot, you can see the account in the left sidebar and its corresponding usernames and passwords are in the right pane. It offers an Edit button using which you can change the username and password of every single account.
If you need to add a new account, then click on the Create New Login button. In the login form, enter the website address, create a username and generate a strong password. After that, click on the Save button.
So, if you don’t want Firefox to store any particular password, then click on the Remove button as it’s shown in the above screenshot. If a warning message prompts on the screen, hit the Remove button.
When Firefox browser offers to save a password, and if you select Don’t Save for that site, your password will not be saved. Also, that website will be added to a list of passwords that are never saved. In that situation, your password will not be saved to the list. Alongside, that website will be added to a list of passwords that never get saved.
Although, if you ever change your mind and want to remove the particular website from the never save list, all you need to go back to the Logins and Passwords section (Menu > Options > Privacy & Security) and click on the Exceptions button.
In the Exceptions Saved-Logins page, you will see a list of websites with its respective URLs. So, select the website you want to remove from the list and click on the Remove website button.
To add any website URL in the never saved list, you need to enter the address of the website manually. After that, click on the Block button and then hit Save Changes.
Use a Master password in Firefox
Firefox has a very important feature that gives an option to use the Master password. It basically works as a protector that provides security to all other passwords, saved in your browser. If you use the Master password, all the sensitive information will get stored under a single password which you will be asked to enter once per session.
So, if you want to use it, open Menu > Options > Privacy & Security. Under the Logins and Passwords section, mark the checkbox and click on the Change Master Password option.
If you have no password set, you will need to create a new one by typing in the box next to the new password. After that, enter the password again in the next box to confirm it. You need to be assured that the quality of the password you are going to generate is strong.
It should be a combination of letters with uppercase & lowercase, special characters, and numbers. The green color of the bar confirms the quality of the password you create. When the green bar goes full, it reflects that the generated password is strong.
You must have to remember the password you have created. Just because of any reason, if you lose your Master Password, you will not be able to access any of the information preserved by it.
Reset Master password
Unfortunately, if you forget or lose your master password. In this case, you have the only option of resetting it. So, in order to reset your master password, open your Firefox account > Account Settings > Manage Account. On the following page, scroll to Password and select the Change option.
Click on the forget password link. It needs your email to start the reset procedure so enter your email and follow the on-screen instructions.
