How to connect a Bluetooth mouse to a Windows 10 device
The first step is to make sure that your Bluetooth mouse has its batteries plugged in and working. Then, turn on the mouse and the Bluetooth discovery function. This process is different from mouse to mouse. For example, on a Microsoft Sculpt Comfort mouse, you have a button on its bottom to turn on the mouse and another to turn on Bluetooth discovery. Your mouse may have similar buttons. Use the button for turning on Bluetooth discovery.
On a Microsoft Arc Touch Bluetooth mouse, on the bottom, there is only one Power/Connect button. Press and hold the button for three to five seconds, and Bluetooth discovery is turned on. The light on the bottom of the mouse blinks slowly on and off until your mouse is connected through Bluetooth. Your mouse may have a similar system.
The best way is to read the user manual of your mouse, learn how to turn it on and then turn on Bluetooth discovery.
Once that is done, turn on Bluetooth on your Windows 10 computer or device, using the instructions from this guide: 2 ways to turn Bluetooth on or off, in Windows 10. After that, it is time to connect your Windows 10 PC with the accessory you want, through Bluetooth. First, open the Settings app. Then, go to Devices and then to "Bluetooth & other devices."
The Bluetooth switch should be On, like in the screenshot below. If it is not, set it to On. Then, click or tap "+Add Bluetooth or other device."
The "Add a device" wizard is displayed. Here, choose Bluetooth.
You are shown a list of Bluetooth devices that are present in your area. Click or tap on the name of the Bluetooth device that you want to connect. In our case, we chose "Arc Touch Mouse SE." The name of your Bluetooth mouse might be different.
Windows 10 spends a couple of seconds to connect the selected Bluetooth mouse and set it up. When done, it says that it is ready to go. Press Done.
You will also receive a notification in the Action Center, like the one below.
You can now use the Bluetooth mouse on your Windows 10 computer or device.
How to connect a Bluetooth keyboard to a Windows 10 device
The first step is to make sure that your Bluetooth keyboard has its batteries plugged in and working. Then, turn on the keyboard and the Bluetooth discovery. For example, on a Microsoft Wedge Mobile keyboard, you have two buttons for turning on the keyboard and a separate one to turn on Bluetooth discovery. Your keyboard may have similar buttons.
On other keyboards, like the Logitech Bluetooth Illuminated Keyboard K810, you may need to press a button on the back to turn on Bluetooth discovery.
The best way is to read the user manual of your keyboard, learn how to turn it on and then turn on Bluetooth discovery.
After you have started the Bluetooth discovery on your keyboard, turn on Bluetooth in Windows 10, using this guide: 2 ways to turn Bluetooth on or off, in Windows 10.
Then, open the Settings app, go to Devices and then to "Bluetooth & other devices." The Bluetooth switch should be On. If it is not, set it to On. Then, click or tap "+Add Bluetooth or other device."
The "Add a device" wizard is displayed. Choose Bluetooth and you are shown a list of Bluetooth devices that Windows 10 has discovered.
Click or tap on the name of the Bluetooth keyboard that you want to connect. In our case, we chose Logitech K810. Windows 10 displays a PIN code and asks you to type it on the Bluetooth keyboard so that it can go ahead with the pairing. Type the code on the keyboard and do not forget to press the Enter key when you are done.
After you have entered the PIN, Windows 10 installs the keyboard. After a few seconds, it tells you it is ready to go. Click or tap Done, and you can use your Bluetooth keyboard with your Windows 10 PC or device.
How to connect a Bluetooth headset, speaker or some other device to Windows 10
The process for connecting other types of Bluetooth devices to your Windows 10 PC, is the same as the one for connecting a mouse. Turn on the Bluetooth device that you want to connect, make sure that Bluetooth discovery is started on it, and then use the instructions we shared for connecting a Bluetooth mouse. The only difference is that you choose your device, instead of a mouse, in the "Add a device" wizard.
How to remove or disconnect Bluetooth devices from Windows 10
When you are done using a specific Bluetooth device, you can remove it or disconnect it. One way to quickly disconnect it is to turn off Bluetooth in Windows 10. However, when you do this, all Bluetooth devices get disconnected.
If you want to disconnect only one Bluetooth device and leave the others connected, open the Settings app and go to Devices and then to "Bluetooth & other devices." You are shown all the Bluetooth devices that are connected, on the right. Choose the one that you want to disconnect by clicking or tapping on its name. Then you see one or two buttons. Press "Disconnect."
To connect it later, select the same device and press "Connect."
The option to disconnect a Bluetooth device appears mostly for headsets and speakers. You do not see it for Bluetooth mice and keyboards. When you select a Bluetooth mouse or keyboard, you only have the option to "Remove device." Click or tap on it and confirm your choice by pressing Yes.
The selected Bluetooth mouse or keyboard is now removed from the list of Bluetooth connected devices. If you need to use it again, you must follow our previous instructions for connecting it.
